Wireless on Campus

Wireless

Logon information for wireless access will be included in your registration packets.

All of the conference sessions (so far) will be in Kellas Hall. The wide and sunny hallway in Kellas is wireless. Vendor booths and poster sessions will be in the hallway. None of the classrooms in Kellas have wireless, but the signal does bleed into many of them.

Dorms do not have wireless, but they have high speed internet connections. Bring your own ethernet cable.

Conference events will also be held in Snell Concert Hall (no wireless), Barrington Student Union (wireless) and Lehman Park (no wireless).

A wireless map of the campus is available here. Wireless is available anywhere you see our wireless logo.

Keynote Speaker Joe Janes

Join us in welcoming Joe Janes as our keynote speaker. While he cannot physically come to Potsdam this June, Joe will be speaking with us interactively from the University of Washington, using Internet2 video-conferencing technology. Audience participation is expected. Not yet familiar with Internet2? Learn more about it here. His talk is titled:

What To Do Now (and Why)

"Hardly a day goes by that a new opportunity or technology or idea comes whizzing past at the speed of light, and most people can be forgiven for feeling overwhelmed and a little guilty for not taking them all on. In this talk, I want to help people to think about what makes the most sense in this fast-paced World of Tomorrow we're now in."

Joseph Janes is Associate Professor at the Information School of the University of Washington. A frequent speaker in the US and abroad, he was the Founding Director of the Internet Public Library and the co-author of eight books on librarianship, technology, and their relationship, including Introduction to Reference Work in the Digital Age and writes the "Internet Librarian" column for American Libraries magazine. He is the 2006 recipient of the Isadore Gilbert Mudge award from the American Library Association for distinguished contributions to reference librarianship. He holds the M.L.S. and Ph.D. from Syracuse University, and has taught at the University of Michigan, the University of Toronto, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the State University of New York at Albany as well as at Syracuse and Washington.
